The Kiwanis Club of St. Andrews - The CLASS Program Special Notice: CLASS ART: 3rd Annual CLASS Program Students' Art Show takes place from April 16th through May 16th at the Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre. The public is welcome to attend the Gallery Opening/Reception on Wednesday April 16 @ 5–7 pm. The Kiwanis Club of St. Andrews (along with other foundations including Tecolote, McCain and Dunn) supports CLASS (Children Learning At Sunbury Shores). This program involves school children from St. Andrews taking part in art and nature classes at the Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre. The classes take place during regular school time and students are instructed by artists and naturalists. Kindergarten to Grade 4 are served in the school, as part of the CLASS outreach program. Grades 5 to 8 travel to Sunbury Shores once a week. New for 2007: Students in Grades 11 & 12 are taking a credit art course at Sunbury Shores. New for 2007/08: Students at Deer Island Community School are receiving art instruction in their school as part of the CLASS outreach program. Meanwhile, students in grades 11 & 12 are once again able to take a credit art course at Sunbury Shores. CLASS Instructors: 2007/2008 Faith Fowler, Therese (Terri) Jodouin, Robert Van de Peer, Mabel Ketcham, Chantal Vincent, Andrea Mulder-Slater 2006/2007 Faith Fowler, Therese (Terri) Jodouin, Robert Van de Peer, Mabel Ketcham, Chantal Vincent 2005/2006 Adam Jeffrey, Therese (Terri) Jodouin, Jamie Simpson, Jeanette Bell, Valerie Bryce CLASS ACT: John Shaw, new president of the Kiwanis Club of St. Andrews, presents a $4,000 cheque to Jan Mulder, a board member of the Sunbury Shores Art and Nature Centre in St, Andrews, as the club's donation to the CLASS (Children Learning at Sunbury Shores) program. The CLASS program provides art lessons to about 375 children including Kindergarten to Grade 8, a Grade 11 and 12 credit program and instruction for alternative education groups from St. Stephen and St. George at the art centre plus Kindergarten to Grade 8 on Deer Island. The $40,000 program is supported by a number of foundations and the Royal Bank. Click on each image to see a larger version.
