The Kiwanis Club of St. Andrews - The CLASS ProgramThe Kiwanis Club of St. Andrews (along with other foundations including Tecolote, McCain and Dunn) supports CLASS (Children Learning At Sunbury Shores). This program involves school children from St. Andrews taking part in art and nature classes at the Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre. The classes take place during regular school time and students are instructed by artists and naturalists. This program involves every kindergarten to grade 6 student from Vincent Massey Elementary School, all grade 7, 8, 9 students and around thirty grade 11 and 12 credit students from Sir James Dunn Academy, taking part in FREE art and nature classes on Sunbury Shores premises or in their classrooms, during regular school time with instruction being given by artists and naturalists from the community. Because of St. Andrews' small population, funding for art teachers within the elementary, middle and high schools is just not a possibility. This is why the CLASS Program is so important for our area.
